About Papaya:
Papaya has sung African songs for decades, and the choir has specialized in interpreting the South African singing tradition for the past many years. The meaning of the songs is emphasized through dance and choreography, and the choir strives to present South African music honestly and sincerely, while relating the messages to our everyday lives and Danish society.
Papaya's repertoire has been built through several trips to South Africa, where the choir meets with South African choirs, dance groups and musicians who teach Papaya their songs. By learning the songs in Africa from African choirs, the themes and personal stories of war, apartheid, poverty, everyday life, celebration, faith and love get under the skin.
