ABOUT NAEMA
NAEMA is an experimental vocal group of 25 mixed singers aged 20-39.
We work with all kinds of music that can be made with the voice - from improvisation to Georgian songs to indie. We ditch the usual voice groups and experiment outside the box!
We love learning music from all over the world and always make an effort to treat the music, history, and culture with respect.
We are particularly interested in vocal improvisation - how we create transcendent harmonies, groovy ostinatos or meditative sound baths together. We incorporate improvisation into our concerts in various forms and often with audience interaction.
Projects & concerts
We sing 1-2 concerts per half year, both 'alone' and double concerts with other great choirs. Among other things, we have sung with Røst, KONUR and Richters Skala Chamber Choir.
In addition, we have had workshops, recorded live sessions and sung in concert with various artists. Among others Lucky Lo , GOSS , William Torp , Luna Ersahin ( Aysay ) and Rezwan Farmi ( Rest in Beats ), Mia Guldhammer , Marte Schau , Siri Myggen and Federico Trindade .
We love being involved in projects. We learn the material quickly, and in collaboration with the artists we often add improvisational elements to make the music even more alive and heartwarming.
AUDITION
If you want to be part of NAEMA:
Be between 20-39 years old
Enjoy singing & want to develop your singing potential
Be a skilled singer & be able to hold your own voice
Prioritize practicing from home
Prioritize participating in concerts, choir weekends and rehearsals
Willingness to participate in social events
Want to contribute to the choir
(arranging gatherings, developing concerts, creating SoMe, etc.)
THE AUDITION
Lasts approximately 20 minutes and includes:
A small talk
You sing 1 minute of a self-chosen song
Ambitus exercise
You learn a song on the spot and sing it together with 2 singers from NAEMA
